The Three Wine Men are coming to York as part of the York Food and Drink Festival this year.
They will be hosting three huge wine tasting events at Dean’s Park, York Minster on Friday 26th 5.30-8pm and Saturday 27th September 11-3pm and 4-7pm.
The Three Wine Men
Three Wine Men comprises the three most media-friendly, high-profile wine experts in the UK: Oz Clarke, Tim Atkin MW and Olly Smith. The events are great fun and provide an educational wine experience alongside the buzz of trying hundreds of wines (and a bit of cheese too). The tone is driven by the attitude of the Three Wine Men – unpretentious, no-nonsense and genuinely about the love of wine.
Oz, Olly and Tim are completely hands-on throughout the events, encouraging everyone to try new wines, beers, drinks and artisan food. They spend their time chatting to everyone, pouring samples and having photos taken with you all – it really is all about having a laugh, tasting loads of wines and meeting the guys. It’s fun, engaging and interactive – the perfect way to expand your taste horizons whilst enjoying a few hours of tiptop fun at the same time. Cheers!
I’ve been to a couple of the food festival beer tasting events and have really enjoyed them. This looks like a great opportunity to learn more about wine and have some fun at the same time.
I’ve only really been to one wine tasting event before – one of those ones where someone comes to your house in the hope of selling you a case or two at the end of the evening. I thought it would be a really classy affair – I’d got all the cheese and olives in along with a few close friends.
However, once he arrived the maverick wine seller proceeded to ply us with the majority of 14 bottles of wine and it’s no surprise that I cannot remember a thing. He can’t have made any money, I actually heard he got fired afterwards… Still, I would love to try again in more respectable surroundings with some real wine experts!
I’ll hopefully see you all there! 🙂
